For many parents who have lost a child, becoming pregnant again is an emotional challenge. Alongside hope and moments of joy, there are often fears, worries, and ongoing grief for the angel baby. Trying to balance all of this internally, seeking support and security—and never quite finding it 100%—is something that preoccupies almost all bereaved parents who venture into a new pregnancy.
It’s not uncommon to be tormented by the question: What if something happens again? Can we handle it? And at the same time, there’s also a deep desire to build a connection with the rainbow baby, to be able to feel joy, and not to spend the entire pregnancy in fear.
Many parents who have lost a child and are now in a subsequent pregnancy no longer feel at home in the usual support programs. It’s painful to attend groups where other parents—who haven’t experienced such heartbreak—sit and look forward to their baby with complete carefree joy. At the same time, you no longer feel on the same level as other bereaved parents who haven’t yet experienced the ambivalent feelings and challenges of a new pregnancy.
This group is intended to capture this special time and provide a space for the topics and questions described.
